Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner for Curly Hair

Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner for Curly Hair

Ever wonder how shampoos get your hair squeaky clean like they promise?

Well, the majority of shampoos on the market contain sulfate, powerful detergents that pull dirt, oil and grease from your hair and scalp. That’s what shampoos are supposed to do, though…right?

Actually, shampoos might be causing you more hair problems than you know.

When your hair and scalp are stripped of all their oils, your hair becomes dry, lackluster and weak. You might begin to wonder why your hair is suffering, and most times, we place the blame on our moisturizers, conditioners or hair masks when in fact, it all starts with cleansing. A proper cleanse cleans your hair thoroughly but also leaves your natural oils intact - this is where cleansing oils come in.

Cleansing oils?

Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? In reality, cleansing oils have been used for years as a better alternative to harsh shampoos. Neroli oil is one of the most effective cleansing oils. This pale-yellow essential oil of the bitter orange tree offers a sharp but sweet citrus scent, and has the power to attract and lift excessive oil and dirt from your hair and scalp. Much like cleansing oils for skin do their job by regulating oil production and lifting heavy dirt off of the hair, neroli oil works in the same way.

Any hair type can reap the remarkable benefits of neroli oil for cleansing, but drier hair types are the perfect match. Curly, kinky and wavy hair’s texture means that the scalp’s natural oils take longer to travel down the hair shaft, making neroli oil the perfect cleanser. Not only will it provide a gentle clean, but it also leaves the hair with just enough oil to remain supple, lubricated and moisturized. Straight hair that is also very fine might not be the best fit for a cleansing oil like neroli oil, as fine hair is easily weighed down by even the lightest of oils.

Neroli oil isn’t just for cleansing, either - you can even use this oil for a natural treatment for cases of lice and knits! Just by combining neroli oil with another carrier oil, massaging into the scalp and rinsing with warm water, you’ll see a huge improvement in the condition almost instantly.

Neroli oil also plays a major role in maintaining the scalp’s hydration. An itchy, irritated scalp can be frustrating, but with neroli oil, the scalp is stimulated to produce enough sebum to keep dandruff at bay and soothe the skin, giving you a soft, healthy scalp.

Simply by adding neroli oil to your haircare routine, you can turn dull, lifeless hair into thick, juicy strands that look and feel their best. Whether it’s in the form of pure oil or a natural shampoo/co-wash, you’ll soon see noticeable changes in hair growth, hydration and length retention.
